Content
created just for search engines is not likely to help your ranking unless
you have a degree of "inbound link health" to begin with
SEO is not BS, however
many services sold by SEO firms are BS, especially link building and link
bait
Beware of fixed price
link building "packages" that execute identical linking campaign regardless
of a site's content
You can't outsource
all SEO 100% and expect to be effective, especially to companies based
in other countries
The sites I see having
the most success have at least some in-house talent devoted to SEO/SEM/Link
Building
If your SEO/SEM firm
is not pushing you to become more educated about the SEO process, be suspicious
The frenzy to attract
links has caused a spike in new tools and tactics that use shortcuts and
enable spam, ignoring the essence of what it is that makes your site truly
different. When everyone pursues the same tactics, the result is
a massive inflow of millions of pages of marginal content, linking to millions
of other pages of marginal content, using hundreds of marginal tools that
automate the process, all in the name of improved search rank that will
never happen or last a short time at best.
The sites that take
the time to pursue and attract the right type of high trust links will
be the sites that survive.
